Mastering Message Efficiency: A Guide to Streamlining Your Speech Preparation
Unlock the Power of Purpose to Craft Clear and Effective Messages in Less Time
The key word here is efficiency. Creating a message can be difficult and time-consuming, taking up time that could be spent on other, more important tasks, such as actually writing or practicing the speech.
Some struggle with not having enough to say, while others have too much and need to narrow it down.
I want to focus on those who have just a bit too much to share.
To them, I say, remember your purpose.
Creating a clear message is like building a bridge—it starts with a solid foundation. Begin with a purpose and keep it in mind while you create your speech. Your purpose is the reason for your speech. If you know your reason, the rest will fall into place.
For this to be effective, you must avoid getting caught up in the details. Being detail-oriented is a fantastic quality but can keep you from moving forward. Not all details are as important as we think they are, and focusing too much energy on them may be a procrastination technique in disguise.
Pro-Tip: Be okay with good enough.
Keep your eye on the bigger picture—it will prevent perfectionism from holding you back.
If you identify your purpose and keep it at the forefront of your mind instead of focusing on tiny details, your message will come across naturally. You will end up with a clear and effective speech that did not take up too much of your time.
